Harriman State Park Day Trip: An Unplanned Adventure

A Weekend Surpise

Summer time is for vacation. However, when I can’t go somewhere far away or for a week long, a day trip can be a good substitute. I normally set my traveling dates ahead of time but I’m also up for spontaneous day trips when the mood strikes.

On a Saturday morning, my boyfriend suddenly suggested driving to upstate NY. Since I had no particular plan that day, I went with the flow. We went toΒ Harriman State ParkΒ for the first time. It turned out to be a wonderful park with lakes, beaches, camping areas, hiking trails, and scenic roads.

Harriman State Park Day Trip Outfit: Buden Shouten tee from Japan (size S). Zella cropped yoga pants (size XS, old). Blondo waterproof sneakers (size 5.5, true to size, see current version). Rebecca Minkoff fringe bag (see similar style; or small fringe belt bag in black, and medium belt bag in brown). Straw hat from Beijing (no name brand, see similar style from Nordstrom Rack).

Breakneck Pond

We hiked around this pond and saw a snake that seemed to be as long as how tall I stand! The trail was pretty rough and uneven with big rocks and fallen branches, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Miu Miu sunglasses (see same pair from The RealReal)

(If you love cute cartoon animals with Japanese writing on your tee, I highly recommend checking out the brand Buden Shouten if you ever go to Japan. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to buy this brand here in the US. I have only seen them a couple times in the Kinokuniya Book Store near Bryant Park, NYC a few years ago.)

…And More

I would love to go back to see the other lakes. And maybe next time, I’ll be prepared to go kayaking or go on a longer hike.
