There are numerous ways to buy affordable sustainable denim, if you are willing to do a little homework and shop mindfully.

For me, knowing what I'm supporting makes my fashion choices beautiful inside and out: just like my denim shorts. They are from Levi's using the Water<Less® techniques.
Besides the eco-friendly mindset, I also love the subtle colorblock designs on these high-waisted shorts. Per Levi's, the Water<Less® production methods use far less water than the traditional processes: up to 96% less water to be exact.

Even if the jeans are made in traditional ways, you can still save water by washing them less. You don't need to wash your jeans after every wear unless they are super dirty. Hanging them out in the sun or in an airy and sunny indoor area will usually do the trick. Sunlight kills germs and gets rid of odors on the fabric nicely. Plus, this way of maintenance will elongate the life of your denim clothing.
For size references: my waist is 26in, and hip is 36in. I have Levi's jeans in size 24 to 26 depending on the style. These shorts fit nearly true to Levi's size chart, maybe slightly bigger on the waist. The same lovely design is also available in jeans and jackets.

TENCEL™ - The Natural Choice

Another alternative to traditional denim is TENCEL™. This fibre is made from wood pulps sourced from sustainable forestry. They are as soft as cotton, but have a much smaller carbon footprint thanks to its closed-loop production.
